ROCK CONTINUE TO DEAL BEFORE NLL TRADE DEADLINE

The Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club traded defender Phil Sanderson in a transaction with the Buffalo Bandits this week for a 2007 first round draft pick. Terms of the contract deals were not disclosed due to club policy.

Defender Bryan Riddell moves onto the Rock active roster from the practice player list as result of the trade.

“Our decision to trade Phil was a difficult one”, says Mike Kloepfer, Director of Lacrosse Operations for the Toronto Rock. “In the end it was important to strengthen our drafting position and we now feel that with a 2007 first round pick to go along with our two 2008 first rounders, we have addressed this.”

Kloepfer also feels the recent transactions allow the Rock to find a way to give the young defenders an opportunity to play and gain important game experience. “Players like Matt Carroll and Bryan Riddell now have that opportunity.”
