Adam Jay Returns On 2-Year Deal

ADAM JAY RE-SIGNS WITH ROCK

Up And Coming Defender Looking To Become A Regular In Rock Lineup

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick today announced the re-signing of defender Adam Jay to a 2-year contract.

The signing is pending league approval.

“There’s nowhere I’d rather be,” said an excited Jay after agreeing to the new deal.

The 24-year old from Victoria, BC was signed as a free agent prior to the 2017-18 season but he spent that entire campaign on the Rock’s practice roster.  To begin the 2018-19 season, Jay again found himself on the practice roster, but finally made his NLL debut on March 9, 2019 against Calgary and dressed for eight of the Rock’s final nine regular season games and then appeared in both Rock playoff games.

“When I played my first game and pulled on the Rock jersey, it really was a dream come true,” said Jay.  “I grew up following the Rock and watching guys like Colin Doyle play for this team.  It was a pretty special moment.”

Jay had the opportunity to sign with another team after the 2017-18 season since he finished that year on the Practice Roster.  Last summer’s decision to come back to Toronto was an easy one for him.

“Jamie and Matt (Sawyer) have been very supportive of me and very positive from day one here,” recalled Jay.  “I’m more confident in my game, but I’m never satisfied, and I will keep pushing to get better.”

After a successful summer session in the WLA for the Nanaimo Timbermen, Jay has already arrived back in Ontario to prepare for the coming NLL season.  “I wanted to come in early and keep the momentum going from last season.  I want to focus on improving my footwork, strength and overall fitness.”
