Alumni Night Highlighted By Alumni Game At Halftime

Oakville, ON – Jim Veltman, Bob Watson and Steve Toll are just a few of the familiar names that will be a part of the Toronto Rock’s first ever Alumni Night presented by True North Lacrosse on Friday, April 3rd when the Rock face the Rochester Knighthawks at Air Canada Centre.

Highlighting the night will be several Rock greats of the past, pulling on the jersey once again and participating in an Alumni Game at halftime.  Legendary captain Jim “Scoop” Veltman, “Speedin” Steve Toll and Glenn “The Professor” Clark to name a few, are among the group of players who will be participating in the halftime Alumni Game. A full roster of players will be announced in the coming weeks.

The players will wear retro Toronto Rock jerseys for the Alumni Game.  The threads will be a throwback to the Rock’s first NLL championship and the two seasons played at Maple Leaf Gardens featuring the original Rock logo. Fans will have the opportunity to own a piece of the game-worn memorabilia from the evening as well as other Alumni related merchandise.  Details on the available items will be announced soon.

In addition to the halftime Alumni Game, the Rock Alumni will also be signing autographs for fans beginning at 6pm when doors open on the concourse inside Air Canada Centre.  Rock legends Bob “Whipper” Watson and former captain Chris “The Pistol” Driscoll will join the Alumni Game participants for the autograph session.

The opponent on Alumni Night holds some additional significance.  The Rochester Knighthawks fell to the Rock in both the 1999 and 2000 NLL championship games, which were played at Maple Leaf Gardens.  The 2000 championship game was the last professional sporting event at the old Gardens and featured Kaleb Toth’s game winning goal in the final seconds of regulation to give the Rock their second title in as many years.

All Rock fans are invited to reminisce and reunite with fans, new and old as we celebrate the rich history of the Toronto Rock franchise.  Game time is set for 7pm.
