Garrett Billings Wins NLL Sportsmanship Award

Toronto, ON – The 2014 NLL Awards were handed out on Sunday evening at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, ON.  Toronto Rock forward Garrett Billings won the NLL’s Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive season.  In addition to the Sportsmanship accolade, Billings was also named a 1st Team All-Pro.

For the third consecutive season, Billings was the runner-up for the league’s Most Valuable Player Award.  His MVP season was interrupted by a knee-injury in the final month of the season.

For the bulk of the season, his scoring prowess in 2014 was unmatched by any player in the league and wasn’t passed in the NLL scoring race until the final week of the season.  Billings also established a league record becoming the first player to eclipse the 100-point plateau in three consecutive seasons.

Rochester’s Cody Jamieson was named the NLL MVP which capped off a great year for the Knighthawks forward and NLL scoring champion.

Recently acquired transition player Brodie Merrill was the runner-up for the Transition Player of the Year and was also named to the 2nd All-Pro Team in recognition of his 2014 season with the Philadelphia Wings.  Minnesota’s Jordan MacIntosh won the Transition Player of the Year Award.

The NLL calendar officially turns a page on Monday night with the 2014 NLL Draft at the Toronto Rock Atheltic Centre.  Fans can watch Monday’s draft live at 7pm ET at nll.com.
