Jesse Gamble Re-Signs

Toronto – The Toronto Rock have re-signed defender Jesse Gamble to a one-year contract pending league approval.  Gamble was the Rock’s top pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft after being selected in the 2nd round, 17th overall.

The 24-year old cracked Toronto’s opening night roster in 2012 and played in a total of 11 games.  He scored 3 goals and added 6 assists for 9 points while collecting 55 loose balls.  Gamble proved to be Toronto’s most impactful rookie in 2012 injecting speed and athleticism into the lineup.

At the other end of the spectrum, veteran defender Bruce Codd announced his retirement on Monday after 13 seasons in the NLL.  The 34-year old native of Orangeville, ON played 183 career regular season games with stops in Albany, Columbus, Montreal, Ottawa, Arizona, Calgary and Toronto.

Later on Monday, Calgary announced that Codd has joined the coaching staff of the Roughnecks as an assistant to newly appointed Head Coach Curt Malawsky for the 2013 season.  He’s no stranger to the Calgary lacrosse scene having played there for 4 years, capturing a Champion’s Cup in 2009 with the Roughnecks.

Also on Monday, the league announced plans for the 2012 NLL Entry Draft and Player Combine.  Both events will be hosted by the Rock with the Entry Draft taking place on Monday, October 1st at the Westin Harbour Castle and the Player Combine on Sunday, September 30th at the new Toronto Rock practice facility in Oakville.  For more information on the NLL Entry Draft and Player Combine please visit www.nll.com.
