NLL Announces the Rock have clinched a playoff spot!

The National Lacrosse League has confirmed that the league leading Toronto Rock and the West Division leading Calgary Roughnecks have each clinched playoff berths.

Toronto is the first team to clinch a berth in the East Division.  The Rock (9-2) are assured of finishing the regular season with a record no worse than 9-7. The Philadelphia Wings (4-7) can finish no better than 9-7. Under all possible tie-breaking scenarios, Toronto wins a tie-breaker to clinch a playoff berth.

Toronto returns to action on Friday, March 25th when they take on the Calgary Roughnecks at Scotiabank Saddledome, 9:30pm ET. 

Calgary is the first team to clinch a berth in the West Division.  The Roughnecks (7-3) are assured of finishing the regular season no worse than 7-9. This will be the ninth consecutive season in which the Roughnecks have advanced to the postseason.


About the 2011 NLL Playoffs

The 2011 NLL Playoffs will begin on the weekend of April 29-May 1 and will take place over three consecutive weekends. The 2011 NLL Championship Game will be played on the weekend of May 13-15.

The format remains the same, with eight teams (top four in each division) advancing to the playoffs. All playoff games are single-elimination, and hosted by the higher-seeded team.

The four Divisional Semifinal games will open the playoffs on the weekend of April 29-May 1. The winners advance to the Eastern and Western Divisional Finals on the weekend of May 6-8. The winners advance to the 2011 NLL Championship Game. There will not be a bye weekend following the conclusion of the regular season.
