NLL Hands Down Discipline

Today the National Lacrosse League handed down their disciplinary rulings from the December 15th bench-clearing brawl during a preseason scrimmage between the Toronto Rock and Buffalo Bandits.

Toronto goaltender Pat Campbell has received a one-game suspension for his part in the altercation.  Game officials identified Campbell as being the first player to leave the Rock bench, and thus the one-game suspension was automatic.

The brawl, which broke out with 5:02 remaining in the third quarter, led game officials to cancel the remainder of the game.

Several Rock players were assessed game misconducts by the league upon review of the game video.  Any player who is given three game misconducts in one season (exhibition and regular season included) receives an automatic one-game suspension.  Each subsequent game misconduct is subject to further league discipline.

In addition to the game misconducts, there were fines handed out to players for leaving the bench.  The Toronto Rock Lacrosse Club was also fined an undisclosed amount.
