Rock Acquire Bill Hostrawser

TORONTO, ON – Toronto Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson has announced a pair of transactions.  The first of which is the acquisition of defender Bill Hostrawser from the Vancouver Stealth.  The second is the release of defenceman Stephen Hoar.

To obtain the gritty Hostrawser, the Rock parted with a 3rd round pick in the 2014 NLL Draft and a 4th round selection in the 2015 NLL Draft.  Hostrawser was originally selected by the Stealth in the 2nd round (12th overall) in the 2012 NLL Draft.

The 23-year old Belwood, Ontario native appeared in 9 regular season games for the Stealth in his rookie season of 2013 and also played in all three of the teams playoff games including a Champion’s Cup final loss to Rochester.  So far this season, Hostrawser had appeared in 6 games for Vancouver and after not collecting a single point in all of 2013 he already had a goal and 3 assists along with 7 penalty minutes.

Last Friday night, Hostrawser suited up for Vancouver against Toronto in the Rock’s 17-12 win.  The interesting twist is that the newest member of the Rock engaged in a fight with Mike Lum-Walker in the late going of that game.  The two combatants will now become teammates.

The newest member of the Rock spent his Junior A lacrosse playing days with the Orangeville Northmen and won the Minto Cup Canadian Junior A championship in 2012 under Rock assistant coach Matt Sawyer’s guidance.

Making room for the acquisition was the release of veteran defender Stephen Hoar.  Currently his 11th NLL season, Hoar was a member of the 2011 Toronto Rock championship team and had played in Toronto since being acquired from Rochester in the fall of 2008.

Tickets for Bachly Construction Garrett Billings bobblehead night this Friday are now on sale.  The Rock will face Philadelphia on that evening at 7:30pm at Air Canada Centre.  For more information, please visit www.torontorock.com or phone 416-596-3075 to speak with a ticket representative get your hands on the BEST ticket in town.
