Rock Clip Wings In Pre-Season Finale

Oakville – The Toronto Rock failed to deliver a win in their first pre-season game at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) earlier this month, but on Saturday night they gave their fans an early Christmas gift in the form of a 12-9 win over the Philadelphia Wings.

Philadelphia had success in beating Rock goaltender Nick Rose in the early going as they held a 4-3 lead after one quarter.  The Wings also held that same one goal edge at the half, leading 7-6.

The third quarter saw the Rock take control of the game outscoring Philadelphia 3-0 in the frame.  Patrick Merrill, Josh Sanderson and Scott Evans all connected for the Rock goals.

The visiting Wings struck twice to tie the score 9-9.  The Rock answered those two goals with three goals of their own.  Cam Woods sealed the victory with an empty net goal.

Josh Sanderson led the way offensively for the Rock with 3 goals and 3 assists while Blaine Manning had 5-point night (1 G, 4 A).  Scott Evans continued to carry a hot stick scoring three times and adding an assist.

Kevin Ross led the Wings scoring with 3 goals and an assist.  Kevin Buchanan scored twice and also picked up a pair of assists.

The Rock will take a few days off for the Christmas break and return to practice on Thursday, December 27th from 8-10pm at the TRAC.
