Rock Host Rush On Sunday At 3pm

Toronto – Sunday afternoon at 3pm ET, the Toronto Rock (8-3) host the Edmonton Rush (6-5) on Toronto Sun Autograph Day at Air Canada Centre.  Fans can watch the game live on The Lacrosse Network at YouTube.com/TLN.

This will be the second and final regular season meeting between the two clubs.  Toronto won the first meeting back on the opening weekend of the season in Edmonton, escaping with a narrow 10-9 win on January 13th.  The Rock were coming off a game just hours earlier and this Sunday the Rush will be in that same situation as they play in Buffalo on Saturday evening.

“Very excited and looking forward to playing them,” Rock GM and assistant coach Terry Sanderson said of the matchup with Edmonton on Sunday.  “They’ve been the hottest and the best team in the west over the last couple weeks.  I know they will be well prepared and give us everything we can handle.”

Despite being the only team to clinch a playoff spot thus far and sitting atop the NLL with an 8-3 record, Sanderson believes there is still some work to do.

“Your team is a work in progress,” expressed Sanderson.  “We’re striving to get better in a few areas.  We do see improvement but it’s not at the level it needs to be in order to be successful down the road.”

Also on Sunday, Toronto fans will get their first look at Rush forward Mark Matthews who was selected with the first overall pick in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft.  The Oshawa, ON native leads all rookie scorers with 51 points (31 goals, 20 assists) in 11 games.

Edmonton enters the game winners of their last three contests, all on the road and will complete a 5-game road swing with Sunday’s game in Toronto.  The Rush are tied for second place in the West Division with Calgary and are just a half game behind Washington for top spot.

Following Sunday’s game, fans will be invited down to the floor to get an autograph from their favourite Toronto Rock players as a part of Toronto Sun Autograph Day.  For the best ticket in town, visit www.torontorock.com or call 416-596-3075.
