Rock Make Final Roster Moves

Rookie Drew Belgrave Makes Active Roster

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick has announced the team’s final roster moves ahead of the NLL’s roster deadline. Teams must trim their active roster to 20 players by Friday at 12 noon ET. Additionally, teams can have up to four players on their practice roster and ten players on their inactive roster.

The Rock released seven players in total from training camp. Mikey MacDonald, Seth Laidlaw, Lyndon Bunio, Connor Cole, Brett Ulbikas, Shawn Lantz and Patrick Miles. 2017 NLL Draft pick Christian Burgdorf was released after not attending training camp.

Also from the 2017 NLL Draft class, sixth round pick Dan Craig has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform List. Fourth round picks Alec Tulett and Josh Jubenville have both been placed on the Draft List as they are finishing their education this year.

Turner Evans (knee surgery) and Challen Rogers (shoulder surgery) continue to rehab their respective injuries and have been placed on Injured Reserve.

Goaltender Riley Hutchcraft and defenders Adam Jay, Brandon Slade and Darryl Robertson make up the four-man practice roster. Hutchcraft was the Rock’s third round selection, 30th overall in the 2017 NLL Draft while Jay, Slade and Robertson were all free agent invites to training camp.

The lone rookie to make the Active Roster is 21-year old Drew Belgrave who was selected in the second round of the 2017 NLL Draft, 15th overall. Below is the makeup of the Active Roster.

Forwards: Rob Hellyer, Brett Hickey, Adam Jones, Stephan Leblanc, Dan Lintner, Kieran McArdle, Reid Reinholdt, Tom Schreiber.

Defence: Drew Belgrave, Phil Caputo, Sandy Chapman, Damon Edwards, Latrell Harris, Bill Hostrawser, Brad Kri, Jordan Magnuson, Brodie Merrill, Brock Sorensen.

Goaltenders: Brandon Miller, Nick Rose

The Rock will play their final pre-season game on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville against the New England Black Wolves. There is no charge for admission, however fans are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy in support of the Oakville Professional Firefighters Annual Toy Drive. Please arrive early to guarantee yourself a seat.
