Rock select seven players at 2026 NLL Draft

Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock selected six players at the 2026 NLL Draft presented by Capelli Sport.  For the third straight year, the Rock held the second overall pick in the draft and selected right-handed shooting Forward Silas Richmond.

“Silas is a super talented young player who will fit in great with our group,” said Rock Owner and GM Jamie Dawick.  “He loves the game, he’s all-in on being a pro, that’s the type of player we’re looking for.  When we brought him in to work him out, he really impressed me with his athleticism and shooting ability.”

Richmond has superstar potential and offensively he’s the complete package.  His poise and patience around the net is unique for a player like him.  He played collegiately at the University of Albany and put up staggering offensive numbers throughout his NCAA tenure.  He did the same in the box for Port Coquitlam in his Jr. A career and continued that through to his brief time in Sr. A with Burnaby.  Richmond is coming off a championship win in the PLL with the Philadelphia Waterdogs alongside the Rock’s CJ Kirst.

At the end of the first round, 17^th overall the Rock selected gritty left-handed defender Alexis Simard.  The 6-foot-1 native of Terrebonne, QC starred as a long-stick midfielder at Canisius University where he was named to the All-MAAC first team in his senior year and finished as the program’s all-time leader in caused turnovers (58).  In the box, Simard was a key contributor to the Burlington Jr. A Chiefs Minto Cup Canadian Championship in 2023 and played Sr. A lacrosse for Brampton in the MSL in the summer of 2026.

With the first of two second round picks, the Rock selected forward Will Sheehan 23^rd overall.  Sheehan is long and lanky with a very high lacrosse IQ.  The Oakville, ON product was one of the best Jr. A lacrosse players throughout his junior career.  The ceiling is very high for Sheehan and the Rock may have snagged a steal with this pick.  Sheehan spent most of his Jr. A career with his hometown Oakville Buzz before being traded to the Toronto Beaches to wrap up his junior playing days.  Collegiately, Sheehan played his NCAA lacrosse at Yale.

With their second pick in round two, the Rock took faceoff specialist Andrew McMeekin 30^th overall.  The Princeton grad finished his NCAA career with a National Championship in 2026 and is the Tigers’ all-time leader in faceoff wins and ground balls.  He went on to lead the PLL in faceoff win percentage as a rookie and was named the league’s faceoff athlete of the year.

In third round, the Rock decided to keep it in the family when they selected Brooks English 39^th overall.  The younger brother of Sam and Ty, Brooks shares the same high level athleticism and compete level.  He’s a fast and smart lacrosse player who will work to earn a spot on the Rock’s back end, but first he’ll return to Johns Hopkins University to play out his fifth year of NCAA eligibility.

With their final pick in this year’s draft, the Rock selected Troy MacDonald in the fifth round, 63^rd overall.  MacDonald played for the Elora Jr. A Mohawks for the bulk of the 2026 summer season but found his way to the Guelph Jr. B Regals to help them make a playoff push, all the way to the Ontario Finals where they lost in the fifth and deciding game to Akwesasne.  MacDonald still has one year of junior eligibility remaining.

The Toronto Rock will open training camp on Saturday, October 31 at the TRAC in Oakville as they begin to prepare to defend of their NLL title.
