Rock Sign 2014 Draft Picks

Toronto, ON – The Toronto Rock have signed all four of their 2014 NLL Draft picks to one-year agreements, pending league approval.  The signings come just over one week before the Rock open training camp on Saturday, November 29th at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario.

The first of the four signings is right shooting forward Brandon Benn, selected in the 4th round, 33rd overall.  Benn’s greatest success in junior came in 2012 when he was a member of the Minto Cup Canadian Junior A champion Orangeville Northmen.

Forward Jordan Robertson was Toronto’s 5thround pick, 43rd overall from the Whitby Junior A Warriors.  Previous to coming to the Warriors, Robertson had played his entire Junior A career with the Toronto Beaches.

The Rock used the first of two 6th round picks to grab Brady Heseltine, an offensive righty, 51st overall.  Heseltine is a native of Elora, Ontario and played his Junior A lacrosse in Brampton.

With the 52nd overall pick, Toronto selected defender Darryl Robertson from Whitby Junior A.  Robertson is just 20-years old and can return to the Warriors for another year of junior in the summer of 2015.

The four players will have the daunting task of trying to crack a veteran laden Rock roster that saw many off-season additions ahead of the NLL Draft back in September aimed at addressing the overall depth of the club.

The signings bring the total number of players under contract to 32 not including the injured Colin Doyle.  Forward Garrett Billings (Restricted Free Agent) and defender Bill Greer (Unrestricted Free Agent) are still unsigned from the 2014 version of the Rock.  Defenders Cam Woods and Chris White will not be returning in 2015.

On day one of training camp on Saturday, November 29th, players will complete their physicals throughout the morning before hitting the turf for a 2pm on floor session.
