Rock Sign Colin Boucher And Mark Farthing

Brett Hickey Placed On Injured Reserve – Second Level

Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock, like most of the NLL, were quiet on trade deadline day as the Rock did not make any trades prior to today’s 3 p.m. ET deadline. However, the Rock have signed a pair of free agents. Defender Colin Boucher has been signed to the Active Roster and defender Mark Farthing has been signed to the Practice Roster.

With injuries piling up, the Rock needed to address their defensive depth and Rock President, Owner and GM Jamie Dawick opted to go the free agent route to fill the current holes in the roster.

“Today was pretty quiet and there was nothing on the table that had my attention,” said Dawick. “We’re pretty banged up, we’ll have the two new players come in here and practice this evening and we’ll keep battling.”

Boucher appeared 5 games last season split between Vancouver (4 GP) and Rochester (1GP). The Huntsville, Ontario native will bring some size to the Rock back end, measuring in at 6’5” and 240 lbs. The 28-year old will be available to step into the lineup on Saturday night when the Rock takes on the Vancouver Stealth in Langley, BC.

The 26-year old Farthing from Peterborough, Ontario was invited to Rock training camp leading up to this season but did not crack the roster out of camp.

Moving to the Injured Reserve – Second Level is forward Brett Hickey. The former 50-goal scorer was injured in the first quarter of Saturday’s loss to the Saskatchewan Rush. The move is retroactive to March 27th and he will serve a minimum of 24 days on the IR, meaning he wouldn’t be eligible to play again until the Rock’s second to last regular season game on Saturday, April 23rd at Colorado against the Mammoth.

The transactions are pending league approval.

As of Thursday at 3 p.m., NLL teams will have their rosters frozen and only internal roster transactions will be permitted. No free agents will be able to be signed.

The Rock travel to Langley, BC this weekend to take on the Vancouver Stealth at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday night. The game can be seen live on Rogers TV Toronto, Durham and Peel as well as Cogeco TV Halton.
