ROCK LOSE PATRICK MERRILL IN NLL EXPANSION DRAFT

The National Lacrosse League held the 2007 Expansion Draft this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. EST via conference call where Toronto Rock defenseman, Patrick Merrill was one of the thirteen players selected by the Boston franchise.

Merrill, a five year veteran played his entire NLL career in Toronto. He recorded ten assists during the 2007 season and was the Rocks face-off player for the last three seasons.

The Boston team enters the League this year as the NLL’s fourteenth franchise and selected one unprotected player from each of the thirteen existing NLL teams. Teams were allowed to protect up to fourteen players on its roster and no team could lose more than one player. Teams could either protect one goaltender and thirteen runners, which includes forwards, defensemen and transition players OR two goaltenders and ten runners.
