Visit The Rock At The Ontario Lacrosse Festival

Toronto, ON – Friday will mark the opening of the tenth annual Ontario Lacrosse Festival in Durham Region as minor lacrosse players from across the province and country begin to chase provincial and national accolades.  Once again this year, the Toronto Rock will be a part of the Festival, which runs from Friday, August 2 through to Sunday, August 11.

This year nearly 472 teams and 10,622 players and coaches are expected to participate in the Festival.  The expanded size of the event sees the use of four municipalities to host 1,019 games.  Facilities in use for the 2013 Festival are: Iroquois Park and McKinney Arena in Whitby, Legends Centre in Oshawa, Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex in Clarington, Ajax Community Centre in Ajax and Don Beer in Pickering.

The Pee Wee National Championships get underway at 8:00am on Monday, August 5th while the Midget National Championship begins at 4:45pm on Sunday, August 4th. The two national titles will be decided on Saturday, August 10th at Iroquois Park Sports Centre, where organizers expect a sold out facility for the seventh consecutive year.

In addition to the indoor tournament competition, an outdoor Festival Fun Zone is on-site providing unique, engaging and experiential opportunities for Festival fans.

“The Ontario Lacrosse Festival is a ten-day combination of great competition and fun for the entire family”, said Ontario Lacrosse Association President John Doherty.

The Toronto Rock will have an interactive booth set up each day at the festival from 9am to 5pm.  Fans can meet Rock players and cheerleaders throughout the event at the Rock booth as well as test the speed and accuracy of their shot in the Rock shooting gallery.
