First Half of Home-and-Home Set Goes Tonight

Denver, CO – The Toronto Rock (5-3) will take on the red-hot Colorado Mammoth (7-2) at Ball Arena in Denver, CO.  The Mammoth are coming off a one-goal road win at Las Vegas last night.  The Rock arrived in Denver yesterday, while the Mammoth traveled back to Colorado today.

Here’s what to watch for in Saturday’s matchup.

• Following morning shoot around, the Rock made several roster moves. Justin Martin was moved to the Season Ending IR after suffering a lower body injury against Oshawa, and Chris Weier was placed on IR after suffering an upper body injury in Tuesday’s practice.  Rock super rookie Sam English has been moved from the IR to the Active Roster and defender Lucas Hucal has been placed on the Active Roster from the Practice Roster.  The Rock have also removed the Practice Player Tag from Jake Darlison and maintained him on the Active Roster.
• Phil Mazzuca is quickly becoming quite the story with this year’s Toronto Rock. With the departures of key veterans Mitch de Snoo and Chris Corbeil, Mazzuca identified a chance to really step up and become a defensive leader on this team.  He picked up 11 LBs last week vs. Oshawa to the 300 mark in his young NLL career.  He also leads the Rock in LBs with 59.  4 more than Brad Kri.
• Troy Holowchuk has done the one thing every coach wants a goaltender to do – stop the ball. With 17 stops tonight, he’ll reach 500 saves for his NLL career.
• After a 3-game homestand, this is the Rock’s first road game in about a month. They’ll return home for two more weeks at TD Coliseum after tonight’s game.  That will make five home games in six weekends.  Toronto is 2-1 away from TD Coliseum this season.
• Mark Matthews is on the verge of more history. The Mailman is only four points away from 1,100 in his NLL career.  He will be just the 14^th player in league history to hit the 1.1K point-plateau.
• INJURY REPORT: TD Ierlan is on the PUP List. Zack Kearney and Justin Martin are on the Season Ending Injured Reserve List. Chris Weier (Upper) and Nick Rose (Lower) are on the Injured Reserve List.
• The Rock will return home to host Colorado on Friday, February 20^th on Latrell Harris Bobblehead Night and it’s also Great White North Night.
