What to watch for vs. Halifax Thunderbirds

Rock Can Clinch A Playoff Spot With A Win

Halifax, NS – The Toronto Rock (10-3) will face the Halifax Thunderbirds (5-7) on Saturday night at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, NS for the second of two meetings this season.  The Rock crushed the Thunderbirds earlier in the season in Rock City, defeating Halifax 17-8 back in January.

Fans can watch the game vs. Halifax at 6:00pm ET on TSN’s digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App.  To stream the game, simply login to TSN+ with your cable or satellite provider’s credentials or your TSN+ account info if you’re a subscriber to the streaming service.

Here’s what to watch for in Saturday’s matchup.

  • The Rock acquired defender Greg Downing from Albany for a 2023 2nd round pick in the NLL Draft. Downing has played with Nick Rose (Boston) and Stephen Keogh (Colorado).  Perhaps most importantly, he was coached by Matt Sawyer in 2011 in Boston.  Downing will make his Rock debut tonight.
  • Dan Craig is 2 goals away from 100 in his NLL career, all with the Rock. Only 13 players have reached the 100-goal plateau with the Rock franchise.
  • With 4 points Saturday, Corey Small can become just the 27th player in NLL history to reach the 800-career point mark. The most recent to do it was former Rock and current San Diego Seal Kevin Crowley.  At 796 points, Small is currently 12th in scoring among active players.
  • Mitch de Snoo, Chris Corbeil and Challen Rogers remain on the Injured Reserve List.
  • The Toronto Rock can clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight. No help needed from anyone, it’s a win and you’re in situation for the Rock.
  • The Rock are on the road next weekend at Albany. The Rock return home for the biggest game of the year on home floor against the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, April 1.
