What to watch for vs. New York Riptide

Rock Hope To End 2023 With A Win!

Hamilton, ON – The Toronto Rock (2-0) will face the winless New York Riptide (0-2) on Saturday night at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton.  The Rock will wear their black and gold Steel City alternate jerseys and Hamilton’s own Monster Truck will play at halftime on Steel City Rock Night!

Fans can watch the game vs. New York at 4:00pm ET on TSN 1 and TSN’s digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App as well as ESPN+.  To stream the game, you need a TSN+ subscription.

Here’s what to watch for in Saturday’s matchup.

  • Several Rock forwards have enjoyed a lot of success against the Riptide. Corey Small has a staggering 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points in just 4 career games against New York.  Rock newcomer Chris Boushy has scored 14 goals and 19 points in 5 career games vs. the Riptide.
  • Rookie Justin Martin has now scored in every game he has played in a Rock uniform dating back to the preseason. Three exhibition games, three exhibition goals and that scoring has continued into the regular season with a goal in each of the Rock’s two wins.
  • A notable off-season departure from the Rock via free agency, Stephen Keogh had signed with Rochester but was traded to New York on Thursday. There’s a good chance Keogh will be in the lineup on Saturday to face his former teammates.
  • Rock defender Josh Jubenville is listed as questionable for today’s game with an upper body injury.
  • There’s no change with injured Rock stars Chris Corbeil and Tom Schreiber who both remain on the IR. Rock Head Coach Matt Sawyer noted this week that he hopes to have them both back soon.
  • The Rock will have their third bye week of the season next weekend and then will travel to Halifax to face the Thunderbirds on Friday, January 12th.

Fans should also check out the latest episode of Rock City Unplugged, streaming now on the Rock’s YouTube Channel and on TSN+.  A new episode drops on January 9th.
