Rock Acquire Forward Chris Boushy from Halifax

Toronto Sends 2026 First-Round Pick to Halifax

Oakville, ON –Toronto Rock Owner, President, and GM Jamie Dawick today announced the acquisition of right-shooting forward Chris Boushy from the Halifax Thunderbirds in exchange for the Rock’s first-round pick in the 2026 NLL Draft.

Boushy, 26-years-old from Oakville, ON, enjoyed back-to-back break out seasons with the Thunderbirds and has joined the league’s goal-scoring elite.  In 2021-22 he tallied 24 goals and 41 points but took his game to another level in 2022-23 scoring 38 goals and 59 points.

“Chris is a great fit on this team because we currently have two offensive rights under contract in Tom (Schreiber) and Josh (Dawick), and Challen (Rogers) makes three if we used him up front.  This trade gives us more depth on the right side,” said Dawick.  “An opportunity to pick up a 26-year-old coming off a 38-goal season is something we couldn’t pass up.”

The 38 goals scored by Boushy led the Thunderbirds last season and would have placed him third among Rock goal scorers, trailing only Tom Schreiber (48) and Corey Small (40).

The gifted shooter has also seen playing time with Rochester and Calgary during his NLL career.  Boushy was originally drafted by the Saskatchewan Rush in the 2017 NLL Draft in the third round, 31st overall.

Prior to the pros, Boushy played his Jr. A lacrosse with the Burlington Chiefs and before that played Jr. B with the Halton Hills Bulldogs.  He also took his game outdoors, enjoying some success with Queen’s University in the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA).

While the Rock did give up a first-round pick, Toronto has two first-round picks in each of the next two NLL Drafts.  They own their own picks and also have 2024 and 2025 first round picks from Las Vegas that were acquired via trade in exchange for Rob Hellyer prior to last season.

The Toronto Rock will open training camp at the end of October with three exhibition games slated for November at the TRAC in Oakville, ON.
